In 2014, six years ago, I have discovered Aegis Illustration digital works, by Mario Sanchez Nevado. They absolutely took my breath away, I’ve seen nothing like it before! One particular image especially resonated in me, as it presented the message I feel very strongly about: the environmental destruction of our planet… by us.
Being a sugar artist at the time, I just had to sculpt this. Using a glass plate, I’ve built a basrelief, and we then photographed it using the transluscency of layers of the sculpting materials. Thank you kindly, Nick Withers, for the photographs!
Please take a look at the original… It isn’t about the beauty, it’s about its powerful message.
Sculting that teeny tiny deer wasn’t easy, I had to use needles to shape his antlers! Can you spot it?
My sculpted work was merely an imitation of Mario’s concept.
I’ll share links to Aegis now, and I hope you can appreciate the idea behind it all. That is all I can hope for.
